This issue started as a blog. During our stay in Osaka as artists in residence we invited photographers, artists, friends to take part at this blog. Each photographer was invited to post a picture to the blog. Not at random, rather one which is connected to the previous picture by way of an answer, an opposite, a challenge, a formal context or a similar topic etc. The line up of pictures should tell a continuous story with no side tracks or dead ends. The first part was published as „#28b, Kobayashi-San“ in Osaka in March 2006. We didn‘t stop the project after leaving Japan and we invited new artists from South-America, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey etc. to coninue the project.
All photographers of this part: Hisako Nakagawa; Katja Stuke; Oliver Sieber; Miles Collyer; Robert Pufleb; Eric Neufurth; Marcus Zumbansen; Eren Önsöz; Bewernitz/Goldowski; Tasman Richardson; P. Watching Film On Location Once the last shot has been canned and the wrap-up party has wound down, most film sets quickly degenerate into dilapidated backdrops. In the exhibition “Frau Böhm: Unser Film” the Düsseldorf-based artist duo Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber have captured the original locations of legendary Hollywood movies in a series of photographs. Some former sets are non-descript, others simmer with memories. To this collection the artists added images of locations that directly stimulate the cinematic collective consciousness. Playing with expectations and associations Frau Böhm acts as a location scout to history, innovation and the imagination.

In photographs shot from far away and slightly above, groups of people seem to be drifting though dream space. Juxtaposed against these mysterious blurry groupings are images of single people, similarly otherworldly, but this time in extremely sharp focus. The intense color and matte finish of the ink jet printed pages give the anonymous populations of these photographs from Oliver Sieber and Katja Stuke an unsettling immediacy.printed matter, NY

Another collaborative forray into the surprisingly compelling world of the banal by Oliver Sieber and Katja Stuke, this issue of Die Böhm documents a trip the artists took to California. The deadpan photographs of hotel cleaning carts and carefully arranged scrap-book collages on the pages that face them bring some kind of otherworldly order and formal beauty to these mundane moments of travel. printed matter, NY Printed Matter
